Learning simple things right now

QUICK UPDATE / WHAT GOD’S TEACHING ME RIGHT NOW

These always seem to be long, so I thought it’d be fun to do a speed round this week and save some of your valuable time! I also want this week to be a RESPONSE WEEK! As I share 3 things God’s teaching me right now, I am begging you to respond with what he’s teaching you!!!!! Even if it’s one line! Hearing from y’all STIRS my faith!!!

1. I am CALLED to his feet. This sounds silly, but I’ve been learning my “calling” isn’t huge events or big ministry moments or the coolest job ever or even lifted, missions, passions, motherhood one day, etc. but I’m truly called to sit at his feet. If I can learn this piece, the mundane will become a lot more important. As I sit at his feet, everything else is a bonus. 

2. PRAYER IS VITAL. I’ve been working at this coffee shop in Caldwell, Idaho (a small town west of Boise). And there are many slow moments in the day where it’s just me in this shop. I’m learning to put down my phone and pray. This thought came into my mind the other day of “why don’t I pray for this small town in Idaho to be the largest supporter and sending of missionaries throughout the world!!!!?!!?” Who else is interceding for that in this town??? Maybe no one? What if my prayer could actually shake this entire town? That’s crazy!!!! Psalm 66:19-20 “But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me!”

3. TRUTH TRUMPS DARKNESS (renewal of mind). Oh wow how incredibly important it is to speak out the truth. The enemy really is out here trying to destroy us; it’d be so easy to do so if we didn’t have the word and hear God for what the truth is. BUT praise we do! I’m learning to take lies that creep in (big 4 right now: confusion, comparison, shame, body image) and CRUSH them before they sit. Speaking out scripture and asking God in that moment what he thinks of me. It works every time! These things will try and steal joy, peace and freedom BUT they won’t when we renew our mind by speaking truth!
